4 Fruit-Infused Water Ideas

By Winyeemichelle
My newest ‘thing’ this January is fruit-infused water. And whilst that’s somewhat down to my annual health kick, it’s also just a great way to encourage yourself to drink more water. It makes it fun, they taste so good and refreshing, and there’s also some pretty great benefits to different infusions that I’ve been educating myself on.
I’m not really one for sugary fizzy drinks, but then again nor am I somebody that regularly picks up a glass of water to drink. My vice is coffee and I could fuel up on around five cups of that good stuff, if I could! (Ssh, sometimes I do…) My boyfriend sneaked a bobble Infuse into my Christmas sack in December though, so I’ve been totally on it with replacing my coffees with these water infusions:

Strawberry, Orange and Mint

I’m a bit of an anti-believer when it comes to strawberries in that I only the fresh fruit itself, nothing strawberry flavoured. Ice cream, gummy sweets… None of that, thank you very much. But in my water, I can just about do. Strawberries are great for you in that they help to lower cholesterol and detoxifies the skin, whilst oranges are rich in antioxidant vitamin C.

Lemon, Blueberry and Apple

Lemon water is an old favourite, great for improving digestion, aiding bloating (my arch nemesis!) and even for weight management. With the addition of delicious blueberries which are easily my favorite super food, this combination is great for fighting everyday bloat.

Mango and Ginger

Did you know that most mornings, Papa Daisy and I take a bag of sliced ginger out with us for the morning dog walk? It’s an acquired taste but a ridiculously healthy snack, just give it a quick Google and you’ll see! Two slices of ginger and three chunks of mango make a great morning detox infusion. Apparently a few slices consumed before 2pm aids menstrual cramps, indigestion and all sorts of things!

Strawberry and Lime

Finally, something that’ll ease you into water infusion but also get the tastebuds going is a strawberry and lime infusion. Wedge a lime and pop two quarters of a strawberry in for a deliciously refreshing beverage.
Simply chop up your fruits and pop into a glass, jug or bottle. Top with ice and water, and let it infuse for up to 24 hours. I typically infuse mine 2-3 hours beforehand as I’m just a bit disorganised, really. And the best part? Once chopped, the ‘leftover fruit’ can be popped into a little ceramic bowl for your mid-morning snack. Delicious.
