Shaken, stirred, infused or spritzed, nothing beats a great cocktail, and in South Walton we have some of the finest mixologists that are passionate about honing their craft. One of them is Corey Jernigan from The Pearl Hotel in Rosemary Beach who is artistic with his creations, and during the Food Film Festival South Walton this year, came up with a refreshing libation for The Local Palate called “Summer On 30A.”  The drink features the finest Oryza Vodka and Oryza Gin from Donner-Peltier Distillers. During these warmer months you can quench your thirst on this beverage at The Pearl, Neat Bottle Shop and Caliza in Alys Beach, as well as Pizza Bar in Seaside, Roselie at 30Avenue, Shades at Inlet Beach, or try your hand at making this recipe at home. The fresh flavors are cooling and invigorating, perfect for the warm days and balmy nights spent in the summer on 30A.

Summer on 30A

Ingredients
2 ounces Oryza Gin/Vodka
1 ounce basil infused simple syrup
1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
3 watermelon cubes
Fever Tree Ginger Beer
Watermelon rind for garnish
Basil leaf for garnish

Preparation
Combine first three ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and then strain over fresh ice and watermelon cubes.
Top with Fever Tree Ginger Beer and garnish with watermelon rind and a smacked bouquet of mint.
