221: How to Talk About Some of Your Exciting Experiences in Mandarin Chinese

By Learnmandarinnow

After all of your hard work, it’s time in the evening or at weekends to go and relax: maybe go to see a film, or to the theatre, or possibly even to see a pop-concert. Have a think about some of your most exciting experiences and see if you can talk about them in Mandarin Chinese. Or maybe get yourself prepared and ask one of your friends in Chinese about what cultural experience gives them pleasure!

In this Podcast, you will learn:

(i) How to describe an enjoyable event

(ii) To ask someone else’s opinion about an event they have seen

Dialogue:

Two friends talk about a recent concert:

(在咖啡厅)

(Zài kā fēi tīng)

(at the café)

A: Nǐ men qù kàn Wáng Fēi de yǎn chàng huì le? Gǎn jué zěn me yàng a?

Did you go to see Faye Wong’s concert? How did you like it?

B: Zhēn de tè bié tè bié bàng! Quán chǎng bào mǎn, xiàn chǎng qì fēn chāo hāi de. Ér qiě wǒ men zuò dì yī pái ye, wǒ tè bié jī dòng! Zuò wéi Wáng Fēi de tóu hào fěn sī, wǒ jué dé tā wán quán méi yǒu ràng wǒ shī wàng.

It was really, really great! The theater was packed, and the atmosphere was electric. We sat in the first row, and I was extremely excited. As one of Faye Wong’s biggest fans, I don’t think she let me down at all.

C: Wǒ dào jué dé Wáng Fēi de yǎn chàng huì méi yǒu huǒ bào de bàn wǔ……wǒ xiǎng wǒ kě néng gèng xǐ huān qù kàn Cài Yīlín de yǎn chàng huì.

Hmm…, on the contrary, I don’t think the dancing in Faye Wong’s concert was good. I think I would prefer to see Jolin Cai’s show instead.

Jolin Cai is another famous pop singer. She is really good at dancing and has performed lots of well-known dance music tracks such as Love Love Love and Dancing Diva.

When you are really excited about something, you can say ‘特别’ as many times as you want. And when you express being very excited, you can emphasize ‘超’ with tone.

When you describe some place is full of people, you can say ‘
