2017 Nail Colour Trends: Which One Are You Missing?

By Svensson Gel Nail Polish

Whether you’re into bright pops, decorative decals, elegant embellishments or moody metallics, staying on top of what’s trending for the rest of 2017 will ensure you’ve always got a manicure that’s hashtag friendly. Speaking of hash-tags, we’ve Googled, debated, scoured and scrubbed through social media to find a few A-Game favourites for you to try at home to keep your form fresh and on-point.

Let’s nail down four seasonal looks to try in 2017.

Autumn: Shine, Shine, Shine No More

Remember the sandy trends of 2011? A subtle, yet enchanting iteration made many appearances on this season’s runways, particularly for Michael Costello and Cividini. World-class designers and name-droppable brands opted for silver and gold metallic with a big difference – each finger was finished with a matte varnish.

Get the moody matte look at home: A little mix of the smiling silver assassin, The Clooney and the Oscar-worthy elegance of The Gosling makes this DIY look a breeze.

Winter: The Lady is a Vamp

Short days, long nights and an opportunity to break out those layers! Just because we rug up in winter, doesn’t mean our nails should survive naked and uncoordinated. Australian winter nail polish trends are vampier than ever. Ranging from sangria reds and mahogany browns, to navy blue and dark, shiny blacks, winter polishes look amazing with any skin tone, nail shape or claw length. Armani and DKNY showcased this trend on their fall runway as one cohesive shade, building a gossip worthy narrative around their overall execution.

Get the dark side look at home: A vampy look is easy with our Flipping the Bird red nail polish, If Looks Could Kill brown, or Black Velvet polish.

Spring: 50s Pastel Party

Pastels proved popular in 2013, as lavender, pink and mint marked our mits with a candy-land fervor; this time around, softer nude apricots and pink lemonade hits are the go-to for this September to November. Runway styling is a mixed bag of pastel treats, opting from single motifs, pale ombres or ten individual works of art. Paul Costelloe, Philipp Plein, and Naeem Khan, we’re looking at you!

Summer: Look Fresh, Go Natural (But Not)

From Milan to New York, clear or nude nail polish on healthy nails was a staple on the 2016/17 runways. It’s understated, classic, and fresh without being finnicky! The key to nailing this trend is filing your nails into an oval shape.

Get the Au Naturel look at home: Pair any outfit with our Birthday Suit nude nail polish or the feminine Blush light pink.

Notable mention: 3D Nails

3D Nails. Coming to a bathroom near you. Not sure where to start? Take inspo cues from the professionals. 2017 runway season saw herds of cute animal art, glittering jewels, bespoke beads and stare-worthy bits and pieces. It’s not the kind of trend anyone can get away with, but if your workplace embraces (or tolerates) all things wonderful and strange, then why not get amongst it?

Have you been rocking these trends already this year? We’d love to see them! Leave pictures of your dolled up nails in the comments below.
