This close to the weekend and something artsy is already in store for film buffs or the occasional movie-goer. Alliance Française de Cebu presents the 17th French Film Festival at the Ayala Center Cebu from June 21 – 23, 2012.

Five distinct films, with no less than the heavily-acclaimed and Oscar-winning movie “The Artist” at the helm, will steal your hearts and command your attention.
THE ARTIST
Rating: PG 13
Genre: Romance, Comedy, Drama; with English subtitles
Directed by: Michel Hazanavicius
Silent movie star George Valentin bemoans the coming era of talking pictures and fades into oblivion and self-destruction, but finds sparks with Peppy Miller, a young dancer lighting up talkies like no one else.

LES DESTINEES SENTIMENTALES
(The Destines Sentimentales)
Rating: PG 13
Genre: Drama, Romance; with English subtitles
Directed by: Olivier Assayas
The film focuses on a small section of a French community who find their attitudes and ideals clashing with modern methods and the new climate of social change that is going on around the world. It also depicts a life full of love, trust, happiness and betrayal.

DEMONLOVER

Genre: Thriller, Drama, Mystery; with English subtitles
Directed by: Olivier Assayas
An inside look into the world of corporate espionage and the human psyche with a high interest on the anime obscene industry. Connie Nielsen, Chloe Sevigny, and Gina Gershon combine for a wonderfully female cast. The plot twists and turns as the characters all seem to be out for only themselves and willing to do whatever it takes to win.

ROSES à CREDIT

Genre: Romance, Drama; with English subtitles
Directed by: Amos Gitai
A young couple marries in France in the 1940s and the film follows the arc of their marriage over the next decade. As France recovers from the trauma of the war, the wife finds herself increasingly caught up in acquiring material possessions while the husband prefers a more traditional lifestyle.

LE MARIAGE à TROIS
(The Three-Way Wedding)
Rating: PG 13
Genre: Drama
Directed by: Jacques Doillon
Auguste is a playwright who is having difficulty completing his latest play. To facilitate his work, he invites his ex-wife Harriet and the other is her current boyfriend Théo. With all the pressure, Auguste is being helped by Fanny shows little sign of being interested in Auguste, and she appears to find Théo a more interesting proposition.

No worries. Entrance is for FREE on a first come first serve basis so you can watch these movies over and over again on these dates if you so desire:
